We rate the Windows Vista operating system as a product you should avoid for now due to many problems with the release. Further, what we are hearing about the first service pack for Vista is not encouraging; if we are hearing the truth, then we expect compatibility problems to grow with SP1. That said, we understand that you might have Vista, and you might find it difficult to avoid purchasing Vista.
The Property Manager works with 32 bit Windows Vista, and does not work with 64 bit Windows Vista. Support for 64 bit Windows (and other operating systems such as Linux and Mac) is planned for Release 6 which should be available in late 2008.
We have had a few reports of installation problems with Vista. We know that only some Vista users are affected by this, and we don't know know what is causing it but we do know how to fix it. This is a Vista bug.
If you install The Property Manager on a Vista system and when you double-click on the desktop icon to start the program, if you get an error message telling you that no program is found, then proceed as follows:
1. Right-click on the desktop icon for The Property Manager to get a pop-up menu of choices.
2. From that menu, choose "Properties"
3. In the dialog that pops up, click on the "Shortcut" tab.
4. On that tab is a textbox named "Target". Click into that textbox.
5. In that textbox, enter the following text, exactly as written here (you might want to just copy and paste this text string):
C:\SB30\SBRTS30.exe C:\ThePropertyManager\PMGR.SBR
After you enter this text, select the "OK" button on the requester. Now your program will start.
Please note that if you installed your program anyplace other than the default locations (which are C:\SB30 and C:\ThePropertyManager) you will have to put the proper location information into the Target string in the requester
