If I understand you correctly, you have entered an incorrect rent in the system for a tenant, and you want to know how to get it out?
First, identify the incorrect rent. Then make another entry - as a rent - for the same tenant, but put in the incorrect amount as a negative number. Thus, if you put in a $400 rent by mistake, put in another rent for -$400 to cancel it.
When you cancel the rent, you should put in a comment to the effect that this is to correct an error.
When you do this the monthly report will be correct.
We don't let you actually delete an incorrect rent because we want you to have a complete audit trail in the event it becomes necessary. In the Corporate Edition, every transaction in The Property Manager gets a unique identifying number applied to it, and you don't want gaps in that sequence of numbers, which you would have if you deleted transactions. For compatibility reasons, the Standard Edition works the same way even though the Standard Edition doesn't maintain the transaction identifier.
Now, there is a button on the Query page called "month rent income" which reports on rents collected during this period. This report is intended as a rolling "where we're at" kind of report.
It was reported to us as a bug that this report wasn't showing the backed-out rents as being backed out. We investigated the code, and it wasn't a bug; we set it to do it that way on purpose. Upon review, no one could remember why we had set it that way, and it didn't seem to make sense. So it has been changed and the change will appear in the code with the next maintenance release.
I believe we are presently shipping the changed code with new orders, I am not sure whether the demo on the website has the changed code or not.
