This is a case where the documentation has not kept up with the software. We have made a note of this and will correct it in the next documentation update.

The "due date" field referred to in the documentation is the "last update" field on the tenant form. This field is usually set by the program, though you can set it yourself if you need to (and know what you are doing). It will contain the LAST PREVIOUS date that rent was due, and hence the LAST PREVIOUS date that the program updated this tenant's information. It is used by the program, along with the "Rental Period" information, to determine when it is time to update this tenant's information again.

By default, if you don't set it, updates will occur on the first of the month. If you place a date in this field, then that is the LAST DATE that rent was due and the next update will occur based on that date and the period specified in the "Rental Period" field.

If you set a date that is more than one period back in time, the system will update repeatedly until the last update is within one period of the present time.

: The Help File for "Setting Up Tenants" refers to a "Due Date" field (3rd para on the help page). However, a field with this label does not appear on the "New Tenant" form. Which field is the help file actually refering to?

: Thanks.

: PS I have downloaded, installed and attempted to use nine different trial property managements packages over the last week. I will be ordering "The Property Manager" I think. It feels like "the sweet spot" compared to the other eight I tried.
